Lamar Rotary Club participates in Rotary Exchange Student Programs for Rotary Year 2002-2003. The Club was part of a short term exchange project: This project sent Zachary (Zach) McCullough, a local Lamar High School student to Germany for a month to live with the Schwill family from Euskirchen, Germany. At the end of his visit Zach returned to Lamar with Andreas (Andi) Schwill. Andi is the son of his German host family. Andi, age 16 has now returned to his home in Germany after visiting Lamar and the McCullough family for about a month. Below are photos of the two students during their visit to Lamar Rotary Club on August 30, 2002.
The Club is also participating in the Long Term Exchange Program: This exchange brought Santigo Palomeque to live in Lamar for approximately one year. He is currently living with the Maggert family in Lamar and is attending school at Wiley High School. Santiago is from Madriaga, Argentina and is 17 years old. He speaks Spanish and some English and will finish schooling in Argentina in 2004. After secondary school he hopes to do further schooling in the medical field. Madriga is a city of about 17,000 people in the Buenos Aires Province of Argentina. It is a 4 hour drive south of Buenos Aires and is 17 miles west of the Ocean. More information about Argentina, can be found at this site http://www.odci.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/ar.html Santiago loves sports and in his free time did weightlifting and played football soccer, handball, volleyball and basketball while with his friends in Argentina.
